DPD relies on sustainable delivery – with eCargobikes from Mubea U-Mobility

Since October 2025, DPD Germany’s sustainable logistics fleet in Berlin has been strengthened by modern electric cargo bikes from Mubea U-Mobility. With the new e-bike fleet, delivery staff are on the road every day, delivering parcels quietly, efficiently, and with low emissions. Two Berlin depots serve as starting points for deliveries on the so-called “last mile.”

In action: the PACK – a purpose-built eCargobike for the city

At the heart of the new fleet is the PACK – a fully equipped electric cargo transporter with a loading volume of 2,000 litres. It was developed specifically for the challenges of urban delivery: narrow streets, frequent stops, and a high parcel volume. Its sophisticated chassis design and numerous technical innovations make the PACK a true specialist in city logistics – powerful, space-saving, and CO₂-free.

Sustainable delivery put to the test

With 80 locations, around 8,000 employees, and 11,000 delivery drivers, DPD is one of Germany’s largest parcel service providers. To make inner-city delivery more environmentally friendly, the company has been testing various micromobility solutions for years – from micro-depot concepts to electric cargo bikes.

In cities such as Dresden and Berlin, DPD is already supplementing conventional vans with cargo bikes. The Berlin project marks the next step – focusing on scalability and everyday practicality in densely populated urban areas. The insights gained feed directly into DPD’s sustainability strategy, aimed at achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.

Designed for the city – and efficient

Every morning, the eCargobikes set off from two Berlin depots to deliver parcels across different districts. Especially in inner-city areas with narrow streets, frequent stops, and short delivery distances, the PACK shows its strengths. With a width of less than one metre, it can be maneuvered easily through busy streets – quickly, safely, and locally emission-free, apart from the electricity used for charging.

On average, each bike transports up to 80 parcels per day – a strong contribution to sustainable logistics in the German capital.

Technology that makes everyday work easier

Mubea’s eCargobikes are designed specifically for the demands of urban delivery – robust, safe, and comfortable. The dynamic electric drive enables effortless pedaling even when fully loaded. An electronic parking brake with quick-lock function reliably prevents rolling and theft.

For couriers, features such as a low step-through, ergonomic design, and back-friendly ride stability make everyday work noticeably easier – even on uneven ground. Thanks to its compact design and high maneuverability, the PACK can be handled effortlessly in tight city spaces and busy pedestrian zones.

German engineering meets real-world usability – for delivery that truly works.

Conclusion: mobility that moves the future

The Berlin project demonstrates how modern logistics solutions are already becoming reality today. With the PACK, Mubea U-Mobility brings a vehicle to the streets that combines efficiency, sustainability, and comfort – offering a future-ready alternative for parcel delivery in urban environments.
